ABSTRACT
Combining separate analog and HD Radio FM transmitters at a high level benefits broadcasters by employing the existing analog FM antenna and transmission line system, without modification. The existing methods of combining analog and digital FM transmitter at high level imposes significant operational penalties, as they all have high insertion losses of both analog and digital transmitters. An overview of the All-Pass Diplexer approach will be given, in addition to discussing how higher power levels affect the heating of this passively combined system.
Bill Harland is ERI’s VP of Marketing and has the responsibility of all corporate communications, product management and applications engineering. Prior to joining ERI, Bill worked with several broadcast equipment manufacturers, including Harris, Broadcast Electronics and Andrew. He is a 1977 graduate of University of Idaho and holds a degree in Radio and Television.
