There are many flavors of audio over IP now. Several venders have come out with their own versions of audio over IP for a LAN, (for this paper”L’An’s” – Lions”) each with their own propriety characteristics, (drivers). Accordingly there licensing fee associated with or by partnering with each vender specific version of IP audio. (“And Fares…oh my”)
Al will discuss the new IEEE standard for Audio over IP and SAS’s position on utilizing this and other transport mechanisms and SAS’s commitment to provide appliance interfaces to these new standards.
The IEEE recently ratified a standard for IP Audio called AVB (audio, video bridging), or IEEE 802.1. Al will provide a brief technical overview of the AVB transport protocol, as well as, the benefits of having a standard.
As we embark upon moving program by IP rather than by conventional balanced audio, it’s imperative that we learn and understand these new standards. Please join us.
